I am a rising junior at Princeton University pursuing a degree in Economics and a certificate in Finance. Outside of the classroom, I am a 2-time captain of the Princeton Men's Varsity Swimming and Diving Team, a US Olympic Trial qualifier, and rank in the top 100 in the world in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley.
During the summer of 2020, Princeton University announced that classes would be virtual the following year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ivy League also cancelled the collegiate season for Swimming and Diving. As a result, I made the decision to take the year off from college to gain professional experience while also training for the upcoming US Olympic Trials.
This internship has exposed me to an array of different professional experiences and enabled me to gain expertise in multiple aspects of a high-growth software company. During the past several months, I architected a data review process that is used across the AcuityMD Operations team. Not only do I have an overarching insight into the company's day-to-day activities, but I also work daily with the data, which allows me to continually optimize and improve the platform.
AcuityMD has helped me work on my leadership and organizational skills, as I've lead a few other interns through the process I designed. To manage the team, I've built databases and trackers in Notion, which is a great organizational tool. I've also learned more about data analytics and have become proficient using Google BigQuery and SQL.
Yes—this is a true story! In December, I broke a 17-year pool record held by Michael Phelps. AcuityMD has allowed me to be flexible with my working hours, which has enabled me to continue my training in the pool full time. I also competed and won an event at the 2020 Indianapolis U.S. Open and secured a top 100 world ranking. I am now eagerly awaiting the Olympic Trials in June, where I will compete for a spot on the US Olympic Team.
This experience has helped me grow and learn skills that I never thought I would have. It has been an incredible way to spend a year and contribute to the rapid growth of a mission-driven software startup!
